Transgenerational Effects of Parental Diet on Offspring Development and Disease Resistance in Flies

چکیده
The environmental conditions experienced by parents influence next generations, with the parental nutritional status playing an important role in shaping offspring phenotypes. Our understanding of transgenerational effects diet on pathogen resistance is, however, poorly documented. We manipulated quality (i.e., mother, father, or both) and measured development survival after immune challenge septic infection. used Bactrocera tryoni as host model infected pathogenic bacterium, Serratia marcescens . results showed no significant effect maternal, paternal, resistance. Interestingly, when both was manipulated, sons from fed either carbohydrate- protein-biased diets had higher upon infection than balanced diets. developmental traits exception egg hatching percentage which decreased mothers were a diet. emphasised complexity development.

Transgenerational Effects of Parental Larval Diet on Offspring Development Time, Adult Body Size and Pathogen Resistance in Drosophila melanogaster
Environmental conditions experienced by parents are increasingly recognized to affect offspring performance. We set out to investigate the effect of parental larval diet on offspring development time, adult body size and adult resistance to the bacterium Serratia marcescens in Drosophila melanogaster. Flies for the parental generation were raised on either poor or standard diet and then mated i...

In insects, a parental immune challenge can prepare and enhance offspring immune activity. Previous studies of such transgenerational immune priming (TGIP) mainly focused on a single offspring life stage. However, different developmental stages may be exposed to different risks and show different susceptibility to parental immune priming. Here we addressed the question (i) whether TGIP effects ...

abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...
